Our Philosophy

Amanda lived in Egypt for many years where she developed a passion for international business and working with women across the Middle East and North Africa. Verità partners with women-owned businesses and its Argan oil is hand pressed by women's cooperatives in Morocco. Amanda believes that global companies such as Verità can bring healthy, organic products to the market while being environmentally sustainable, supporting economic development in emerging markets, and creating jobs for women around the world. As Verità grows, Amanda will continually incorporate women-owned businesses into her supply chain from across the Middle East and Africa.

In addition to sourcing Argan oil from a women’s cooperative in Morocco, Verità also sources its Shea butter from two women’s cooperatives in Ghana and Northern Nigeria.

The New York Times has called Moroccan Argan oil “Liquid Gold,” which created a gold rush. Only a small portion of the proceeds from the industrialization goes to the local Berber women. Verità sources its Argan oil from women’s cooperatives like the Social Development Agency supported by the European Union’s Cooperative Union of Women of the Arganeraie (UCFA) in Morocco.

The UCFA is an umbrella organization that helps regulate and oversee the interests of the women’s cooperatives and improve the living conditions of rural Berber women in Morocco. The cooperatives have established a profit sharing structure as well as provide free education to the women, many of whom are widowed or economically disadvantaged.

Verità 100% pure Argan oil is certified organic by ECOCERT, one of the largest certification organizations operating in over 80 countries and based in France under the European Union. Verità pure Argan oil surpasses the rigorous organic certification standards and is what makes Verità stand out from other products. 100% pure Argan oil has a concentration of natural vitamin E that enhances the skin and hair's shine, antioxidants for protection against the elements, omega 3, 6, & 9 oils of unsaturated fatty acids that the body does not produce but needs to nourish the skin and promote cell regeneration to keep skin looking young.

Verità products are made from 99-100% organically certified ingredients, ECOCERT and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), to assure that the quality of all Verità products give the skin healthy nutrients without detracting from its natural beauty.

Verità products DO NOT use parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, polyethylene glycols or petrochemical products, and are residue-free. Our policy is that fewer, organic ingredients make the best finished products for the skin, hair, and body. Knowledge is power – know what you’re putting on your body. The truth is in the label.

Verità Classic 100% pure Argan oil comes in a clear glass bottle to highlight its high quality and purity in the golden yellow color. Other brands may dilute their Argan oil or cut with other oils illustrated by a faded light yellow-green color. Light and heat do not affect the Argan oil's stability; it has natural preservatives for a shelf life of 1-2 years.

As an organic skin care company, Verità uses natural ingredients such as oils, butters, salts, and sugars to add nutrients and vitamins to the skin. We do not use synthetically manufactured chemicals that are a risk to one’s health. Verità ingredients come from around the world and often produced by hand by communities in developing countries trading on the international market. The bulk of Verità’s main ingredients are purchased with the Fair Trade seal to ensure that global workers receive fair prices for their goods and fair wages for their work.

Fair trade certified products help farmers build sustainable businesses in their communities that have a positive impact in their areas. As Fair Trade USA says, “the money you spend on day-to-day goods can improve an entire community’s day-to-day lives.”

Fair Trade supports our core mission at Verità – empower women workers and women-owned businesses around the world. Buying Fair Trade ingredients to use in our products guarantee women workers have access to health care, rights, and the freedom from harassment. Women around the world often face unequal treatment in terms of wages and rights and come up against discrimination. Farms that are Fair Trade certified empower women through education and leadership roles, not only within their families but also within the cooperatives where they work.

Verità sources its Argan oil, Shea butter, and sugar from Fair Trade certified suppliers around the world. As our skin care line grows, we will continue to seek out new Fair Trade ingredients for our products.

Verità is committed to environmental sustainability from ethically sourcing its ingredients to providing eco-friendly packaging with recyclable materials. To reduce the carbon footprint, Verità sources materials locally where it can and partners with local businesses to strengthen the regional economy.

Argan oil comes from the kernels of the Argan tree (Argania Spinosa) in the southwest region of Morocco. The tree grows in the semi-arid soil of the Atlas Mountains near Marrakesh and is protected by UNESCO as a natural reserve – the Argan Biosphere Reserve. While Argan trees once inhabited all of North Africa, Argan oil is considered one of the rarest oils in the world and today only found in Morocco. The Network of Associations of the Argan Biosphere Reserve was founded in 2002 to protect and ensure the sustainability of the Argan tree in its natural habitat. The women and their families of the cooperatives depend on the sustainability of the forest for their livelihoods. The women’s cooperatives are also at the forefront of environmental sustainability by managing Argan reforestation programs.

The UNESCO-protected Argan Biosphere Reserve covers more than 6,325,898 acres near the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains and is centered on the Souss-Massa National Park. The forest species are under threat from human exploitation. The Argan tree in particular is a focal point for research and socio-economic development for the Berber population. Research is dedicated to improving the knowledge of the tree species and their usages as well as the physical and socio-economic landscape. The Argan Biosphere Reserve borders the Sahara and provides a barrier against desertification.
